The Truckers Head South of the Boarder

(Sun Prairie, WI) The truckers of the Midwest Truck Series head into the state of Illinois for the first time since 2013 for the Land of Lincoln 50 presented by Nick and Eddie Construction and HVAC at Grundy County Speedway part of the Wayne Carter Classic.

Chester Ace leads the championship points by just 4 points over Jeff Holtz. Eugene Gregorich III has had an incredible start to the season sitting third in points a mere 15 points back. Through the first 6 races of the season, Gregorich is the only driver to move forward in every race and the least number of trucks passed he’s passed in a race is 3. He currently has passed the most trucks in a feature out of everyone at a total of +25.

With his second win of the season Brandon Reichenberger catapulted himself back into 4th in the standings just 23 back while Jacob Nottestad rounds out the top 5 only 24 points out of the lead.

Grundy won’t be new to everyone though. Grundy County Speedway star Paul Shafer Jr is set to do the double by piloting the Keith Slagg #27 truck as well as his super late model. Shafer has had impressive runs in his limited starts behind the wheel of the truck. James Lynch will also be pulling double duty in both a Midwest Truck and his ASA Midwest Tour super late model.

The history is brief for the Midwest Truck Series at Grundy County Speedway with only 3 previous starts in the record book. Erik Darnell won back in 2011 while Dann Barber picked up the win in 2012. Multi-time Series Champion Jerry Wood won when the series last visited Grundy in 2013.

With limited practice time, and most of the drivers not having any experience at the track, it will be wide open to who will end up in victory lane at the end of the night. Will we see another 2024 repeat winner, will it be a local, or will we see a new winner in 2024? Find out this Saturday at Grundy County Speedway!

The Midwest Truck Series will join the ASA Midwest Tour and the Midwest Dash series for a full night of action packed racing.
