Lynch Gets Bold With Cone at State Park Speedway
[Sun Prairie, WI] James Lynch took advantage of the yellows, a perceived one groove race track, and a fast truck to capture his second win a row to kick off the 2023 season.
The day kicked off with Bryce Miller capturing his first fast time award of the year by just .001 over James Lynch in 608 Graphics Qualifying. Miller, who was looking for his third straight feature win, recorded a time of 14.137. Nick Roehl posted his best qualifying effort in his short truck career coming in third with Eugene Gregorich III and James Swan rounding out the top 5.
Scott Ascher, Brandon Reichenberger, and Jeff Holtz all picked up wins in the Pit Crew BBQ 8 lap heat races.
During opening ceremonies, fast time award winner Bryce Miller would roll a 4 on the invert dice which would put the invert at 11. Per series procedures last race winner starts at the back of the invert. This would move James Lynch from his 10th starting spot to the 11th, and more importantly, on the bottom.
Danielle Behn and Kevin Knuese brought the 22 truck field to green which Behn jumping out to the early lead. Lynch began working his way through the field and two early race cautions would give him the option to jump to the outside on the choose cone. While others decided to stay on the bottom, a few went to the outside.
A mid-race restart was all Lynch needed to power past Behn and would go on to lead the final 25 laps in route to his 3rd career Midwest Truck Series win and his second in a row.
The Midwest Truck Series competitor have a short turn around as the series is back in action for the traditional Memorial Day 50 presented by CenterPoint Marine.
